Earthquake of magnitude 5.5 hits Turkey

According to the information given by the authorities, an earthquake of intensity 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Turkey, however; there has not been any information about the injury to anyone.

The tremor occurred at 9.34 a.m. local time in the Acipayam district of Denizli Province, Xinhua quoted the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency as saying.

The agency said nine aftershocks, measuring between magnitudes 4.8 and 2.1 were recorded.

District Mayor Hulusi Sevkan said no fatalities were reported in the area, though some buildings collapsed and some were damaged.
