1 232 civilians kill in Russia-Ukraine war; Russia threatens Wikipedia over war-related articles

The Russia-Ukraine war has already done lots of damage. Both nations are facing difficulties. The advancement of the Russian army is really a big worry for Ukraine. But Russian troops have been facing several obscurities in penetrating the major cities of Ukraine.

As per the UN report, it is expected that at least 1,232 civilians have been killed in the war so far. Besides from the large number of deaths, 1,935 people have been injured since Russia invaded Ukraine.

Russian troops had to vacate Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant after weeks of occupation, but took several Ukrainian servicemen with them as captives, officials in Kyiv said on Thursday.

As they ran away from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the Russian occupiers took members of the National Guard, whom they had held hostage since February 24, with them, “the state nuclear agency Energoatom said in a statement on Telegram, citing plant workers. The Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Iryna Vereshchuk, also said the Russians were exposed to radiation.

Some reports also said the Russian soldiers were sent to a special medical facility in Belarus “after driving tanks through the “dead zone” around the nuclear plant, kicking up radioactive dust.”

Energoatom also said that Russian forces moved back from the nearby town of Slavutych, where workers at Chernobyl live.

The IAEA said it was preparing to send its first “assistance and support mission” to Chernobyl in northern Ukraine in the next few days.

24 killed in a strike on Mykolaiv’s building

At least 24 people were killed in the strike on Mykolaiv’s regional administration building. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, twenty-three bodies have been recovered from the site, and one person died at the hospital. 33 people were also injured.

7 Russian attacks repelled

According to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s military destroyed 3 tanks, 2 armoured personnel carriers, 2 artillery systems, and shot down an Orlan-10 drone. The Ukrainian army said seven attacks were repelled in Donetsk and Luhansk, seven in total.

Russia used phosphorus bombs in Donetsk

Georgia’s President, Salome Zurabishvili, said that Georgia will join international financial sanctions against Russia. Georgia has so far refused to sanction Russia.

Russia threatens Wikipedia

Russia threatens Wikipedia with a 4 million ruble fine for articles about war. As per The Kyiv Independent. Russia has demanded that Wikipedia remove “inaccurate information on a special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine”.
