12 Naxalites killed in massive encounter in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh; Yearly toll rises 103

12 Naxalites are reported to have been killed in a massive encounter between security forces and Naxalites on Friday morning in Peediya forest in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Many big Naxalites present in the forest have been surrounded by the soldiers. Intermittent encounters are still going on between the two sides.

Bijapur: 12 Naxalites are reported to have been killed in a massive encounter between security forces and Naxalites on Friday morning in Peediya forest in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Many big Naxalites present in the forest have been surrounded by the soldiers. Intermittent encounters are still going on between the two sides. Bodies and weapons of the slain Naxalites have been recovered from the spot.

The soldiers of three districts are on Anti Naxal Operation and the encounter is going on continuously for 12 hours. The operation has been launched on the hint of the presence of big Naxal leaders. Bastar IG and DIG along with SP of the district are keeping an eye on the operation.

According to the information received, the soldiers had received information about the presence of top hardcore Naxalite commander Linga, Paparao and other big leaders of Naxalites in the forest in Peediya area of ​​Gangalur police station area. Big Naxalites from DKSZC, DVCM and ACM cadre are also present in this committee of Naxalites.

After the information, 1200 soldiers of STF, DRG, CRPF and Cobra Battalion from neighboring districts Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur conducted a joint operation. Where six Naxalites were killed in a fierce encounter that took place in the forest on Friday morning.
