Jaipur/Kolihan Mine Lift Collapses: A major accident occurred on the night of Tuesday (May 14) in the mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Neemkathana district of Rajasthan, when the rope of the lift used for the movement of personnel broke. In this accident, the vigilance team and many officials of Hindustan Copper Limited got trapped in the mine.
Rescue operations have begun to evacuate the personnel and medical teams and the local hospital have been alerted.
According to the police, the incident occurred when the vigilance team and senior officials of Hindustan Copper Limited were about to come up from the Kolihan mine. At the same time, about 14 people got trapped at a depth of several hundred meters due to the collapse of the roof of the lift used to bring the workers up from the mine.
On receiving information about this incident, local Khetri MLA Dharampal Gurjar reached the spot and talked to the officials. A mining employee said that this incident happened when he fell down after the rope of the cage broke. He said that the rescue operation has started.
Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot appealed to the government for relief and rescue after the accident. He wrote on Twitter, “The news of the accident due to breaking of lift rope in Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Khetri, Jhunjhunu is worrying. There is also news of many employees being trapped in this mine. I urge the government and administration to carry out rescue and relief operations quickly so that the people trapped in the mine can be brought out safely as soon as possible. I wish the well being of all the people present in the lift.
