New Delhi: On Saturday, West Indies batting great Brian Lara has been appointed as the new head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming IPL season. The IPL franchise has severed ties with Tom Moody, who was the head coach of the team in the last edition. Last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad was ranked eighth in the IPL points table. Lara was then the strategic advisor and batting coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad posted on their official social media, “Announcement.” The great Brian Lara will be our head coach for the upcoming IPL season. By the way, this will also be Brian Lara’s first season as head coach. On the other hand, Tom Moody’s stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad was excellent. Under Moody’s guidance between 2013 and 2019, Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the playoffs five times while becoming champions in 2016.

Sunrisers Hyderabad did not perform well in IPL 2022. Kane Williamson-led SRH won only 6 out of 14 matches and lost 8. In this way, the team of Hyderabad finished eighth in the points table.
Tom Moody was made the team’s director of cricket for the 2021 season. Trevor Bayliss was appointed head coach. However, this season the team’s performance was very poor and Bayliss resigned from his position. After this Moody was made the head coach but now Lara has taken his place. Tom Moody will now be seen coaching the Desert Vipers in Dubai’s new T20 league. This league will be organized in January.
