22-Year-old K’taka student slips on the track, hit by moving train, locals protest against railways negligence

Hassan, Karnataka: In yet another horrifying incident that came to fore from Hassan district of Karnataka, on Monday, a girl student slipped on the railway track and came under the grip of a moving train. She died on spot. Angry students protested against the ‘negligence of railway officials’ over the accident.

The 22-year-old girl has been identified as Preeti Puttaswamy and is pursuing her B.A. in Government First Grade College. Com was studying in final year. Preeti lost her life due to being hit by a moving train. The accident happened after Preeti’s father dropped her from the auto. The girl student was crossing the railway track, during which she slipped and got hit by the moving train.

Expressing anger over the accident, he also burnt tires on the road. Due to the absence of a foot over bridge, the local residents-students have to cross the railway track to go to the market or college. The accident happened near Ankpur village in Hassan district. Although local residents have been warned not to cross the tracks and warning signs have also been put up, people run the risk of crossing these tracks in the midst of the ‘shortcuts’ of the college and market.

Local residents and students have to cross tracks to go to markets and attend college due to the absence of a foot-over-bridge.

The accident took place near the Ankpur village of Hassan district.

Residents have been warned not to cross the tracks as it is an illegal crossing; warning signs have been erected.

However, due to the close proximity of colleges and the market, residents take the easier route of crossing the tracks onto the other side.
