Fulfilling the aspirations of many young Indians, Mitkumar Patel moved to the UK from a small village in India on September 19. He was ready to begin a promising journey with plans to pursue a degree at Sheffield Hallam University and work a part-time job. On Amazon. Upon Patel’s failure to return from his daily walk, his worried relatives reported him missing. The Metropolitan Police, paramedics and fire brigade responded swiftly, but the search ended in a tragic discovery. Patel’s body was recovered on the banks of the River Thames. Although the death is not considered suspicious, it has left an indelible mark on Patel’s family and the Indian community in Britain.

In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, a relative, Parth Patel, started a GoFundMe campaign to assist the family with the expenses of bringing Patel’s remains back to India. The fundraiser has already raised over GBP 4,500. The families, who are farmers in India, have been assured that the funds raised will be sent to them safely. The community’s support has been a ray of light in these dark times, providing some solace to Patel’s grieving family.
