Every year, World Malaria Day is observed on 25 April by the World Health Organization and many other international organizations.

WHO:WHO has urged countries to eliminate malaria from the root.India is also committed to eliminate malaria.

The theme of Malaria Day 2023 is Ready To Combat Malaria.World Malaria Day is one of 11 official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization, the other ten being World AIDS Day, World Hepatitis Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Tuberculosis Day, World Tuberculosis Day, World Patient Safety Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Health Day and World Antimicrobial Awareness Week.

World Malaria Day was established by the 60th session of the World Health Assembly.Previously it was widely known as African Malaria Day.Malaria remains a significant public health challenge, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, where more than 90% of the world’s malaria cases and deaths occur.

According to the World Health Organization, India represents 3% of global malaria. India once almost eliminated malaria.However, malaria returned to India in the early 21st century.In 2009, there were 1.5 million malaria cases in India.

National Strategic Plan for Elimination of Malaria:

The scheme was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.The plan has been prepared on the basis of the Global Technical Strategy for Malaria (2016-2030).
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently announced that, in 2020, 116 Indian districts reported zero malaria cases.

symptoms of malaria:

According to WHO, the symptoms of malaria usually start appearing within 10-15 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito.Symptoms may be mild in some people, especially those who have had a previous malaria infection.Its initial symptoms are considered to be shivering chills, high fever and headache. Apart from this, problems like body pain, nausea, vomiting, sweating etc.can also occur.

On the other hand, in severe cases, the patient may also have problems like difficulty in breathing, yellowing of the eyes and skin, excessive fatigue, weakness, blood in the urine, abnormal bleeding, memory problems.
