28 feet statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose unveil by PM Modi near India Gate in New Delhi today

Today PM will inaugurate Central Vista Avenue and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to unveil a grand statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose near India Gate in New Delhi on Thursday.

New Delhi: On Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to unveil a grand statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose near India Gate in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also set to inaugurate the refurbished Central Vista Avenue – which would be known as the ‘Kartavya Path’. The Central Vista Avenue – which extends from Rashtrapati Bhavan to the iconic India Gate – regularly sees several key ceremonial events, including the Republic Day parade.

The inauguration ceremony will begin at 7 pm when PM Modi will unveil the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the revamped stretch. The jet black granite statue, with a height of 28 ft. will be placed under the Canopy near India Gate. The statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be installed in the same place where a hologram statue of Netaji was unveiled earlier this year on Parakram Diwas by PM Modi to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji. The government has also announced a four-day-long cultural function on the revamped stretch. Along with this, the government has also planned a cultural function and a drone show on Bose that will begin after the inauguration.

The Central Government had started the Central Vista Project for a cost of about Rs 20,000 crore between the Corona period. Apart from the new Parliament House, the country’s new capital has to be created from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to the three kilometer long road from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate. It has to be made the new Secretariat of the Central Government, the office and many government houses. In the first phase of this project, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate ‘Dutiful Path’ instead of ‘Rajpath’.

The ‘Kartavya Path’ has been lined with lush lawns, 16.5km of red granite walkways, refurbished canals, repaired and polished facades, public amenities, special vending zones, and improved signages. An amphitheater and 16 food stalls have been installed. Along with this, low-level bridges over the refurbished water channels have been developed.

New four pedestrian underpasses have been developed along with a space to accommodate approximately 1,000 cars. According to an official government release, new exhibition panels, and upgraded night lighting has also been put up to enhance the public experience.

The revamp also includes several sustainability features – solid waste management, recycling of used water, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient lighting systems. According to an official statement, the grand statue of Netaji being unveiled has been carved from a monolithic block of granite weighing 280 MT. After 26,000 man-hours of intense artistic endeavour, the granite monolith was chiselled to produce a statue weighing 65 MT. The statue is completely hand sculpted using traditional techniques and modern tools. The team of sculptors for executing the statue was led by Arun Yogiraj.

On the occasion, the Culture Ministry will also put up a special 10-minute Drone Show on Netaji`s life would be projected at India Gate at 08.00 pm on September 9, 10, and 11. Additionally, a cultural festival would commence at 08.45 PM on Thursday after the main function and will also continue on September 9, 10, and 11 from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm. Both the cultural festival and the drone show would be open to public with free entry.

Delhi Traffic police has issued an advisory for the convenience of public. A large number of VVIPs and other invitees are expected to attend the function scheduled to be held at the C-Hexagon. The Delhi Police has requested the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to direct ministries and departments of the Government of India to provide Work From Home to non-essential employees. The police also requested DoPT to encourage the use of public transport for government employees and closure of offices after lunch on Thursday.
