Jammu and Kashmir: On Thursday, the police said that three people were arrested in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly having links with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to the police, the suspects were found in possession of three hand grenades.
Acting on intelligence inputs, Baramulla Police and security forces arrested three accused in Old Town Baramulla. A police spokesperson said they had received credible intelligence indicating that some unidentified terrorists affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit were moving in Baramulla town with an intention to target security forces.
On social media platform X, Baramulla Police said,”Terror module busted in old town Baramulla-Police arrests 3 terrorist associates of LeT outfit, Grenades recovered.” The spokesman said that The three identified as Owais Ahmad Waza, Basit Fayaz Kaloo, and Faheem Ahmad Mir were allegedly providing information about security force movements.
He said their intentions was to disturb peace in Baramulla in view of upcoming polls. The involvement of these three individuals posed a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of India, police added. A case under various sections of the UA(P)Act has been registered against them. Police said that further investigation is underway.
