30 dead after a bus falls in deep gorge in Maharashtra

Maharashtra: As per the details given by the reports, in an incident that took place in Raigad district of Maharashtra killed at least 30 people after the bus they were travelling in fell in a deep gorge. The bus was carrying 33 staff of agriculture university Dapoli who were going for a picnic when the accident took place.

A person identified as Prakash Sawant has been pulled out alive from the mangled remains of the bus. NDRF teams from Pune have rushed to the accident site near the popular tourist destinations of Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani.

Besides poor connectivity in the remote hills in the area, rescue efforts were severely interrupted by heavy rains lashing the Western Ghats.

The accident came to notice after one of the injured passengers managed to climb up and alerted the authorities.
