35-Year-old Muslim spiritual guru hailing from Afghanistan was shot dead in Maha’s Nashik

Nashik: A major incident took place in Nashik, Maharashtra on Tuesday. A religious leader of the Muslim community was shot dead in Yeola town here. The 35-year-old deceased has been identified as Khwaja Syed Chishti, police said. He was known as Sufi Baba in Yeola. However, the reason for the murder is yet to be revealed.

Sufi Baba was a resident of Afghanistan
Police said, Khyaja Syed Chishti was a resident of Afghanistan. However, he was living in Nashik. The attackers shot him on the head, killing him on the spot.

Afghan cleric shot in the head
According to information received from the police, the incident took place in the MIDC area of ​​Yewala town, about 200 km from Mumbai, where 35-year-old Afghan national Khwaja Syed Chishti was shot in the head on Tuesday evening on an open plot. According to a police officer, the deceased has been identified as Khwaja Syed Chishti, who was known as Sufi Baba in Yeola.

Shot, killers absconding with SUV
According to the police, the attackers came and shot Sufi Baba and then fled from the spot taking his SUV vehicle. After getting information about the incident, Bhagwan Mathure and other policemen reached the spot from Yevala City Police Station in Nashik. The Muslim cleric was rushed to the government sub-district hospital in an injured condition, where doctors declared him brought dead.

According to the agency, the police said that the deceased has been identified as Khwaja Syed Chishti, who was known as ‘Sufi Baba’ in Yewla. The police officer said that the attackers shot him in the head.

The police has registered a case of murder in the police station and is continuously investigating to nab the killers. CCTV footage of the area is being scanned to trace the accused. The police suspect that someone close to him killed the Sufi saint.
