Bhopal: A 40-year-old woman got several blade cuts on her face after being slashed by a molester in the heart of the city, Bhopal, when she tried to fight with three molesters and slapped one of them. The incident took place on June 9. Overall, 100 stitches are needed to seal her cut.
All the three accused have been detained; among them, two are minors. Earlier, police had booked all the guilty parties on moderate charges. But after the fierce outrage by the common people, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged the police to take tough action against the culprits on Sunday.
The victim’s family is in shock. The woman’s husband said, “We don’t feel safe in Bhopal now.”
The CM on Sunday called the police commissioner, collector, divisional commissioner and other senior officers to his residence and ordered them to take tough action against the accused. The police have been planning to take action under NSA against prime accused Badshah Beg, who is a habitual offender.
The offender’s house was demolished by the civic corporation on Sunday. On Sunday, the Madhya Pradesh chief minister met with the woman, a mother of three, at her home and announced a Rs 1 lakh donation to the family. The CM praised her courage and said the government would take care of her kids’ education.
The incident occurred in TT Nagar on June 9 when the victim and her husband went to a hotel. While she was waiting outside, three youngsters started passing obscene remarks, according to the complaint.
When she protested, the accused abused her. After that, she slapped one of the culprits. In a few moments, a crowd gathered and the trio quickly left the scene. While the couple was returning home, they tried to assault her. One of them brought out a razor and slashed her face.
Bhopal police commissioner Makrand Deoskar said on Sunday that charges under the IPC are being slapped on the FIR.
