Jodhpur: At least five people were killed and several others were injured in a fire caused by a cylinder explosion in a village in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on Saturday. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital immediately.
District Collector Himanshu Gupta claimed that 60 people were injured in this incident. The matter turned severe after a house caught fire after the blast, and people congregated during a wedding in Bhungra village.
The Collector further added that “the accident was so serious that 42 people out of 60 injured were admitted to MGH hospital, and their treatment is progressing.”
Nagaur MP Haniman Beniwal of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party went to the MGH hospital to see the injured and said the condition of those injured is very critical.
“The casualty is likely to go further. The Nagaur MP has stressed that the chief minister should announce the compensation of 25–50 lakhs at the earliest possible time to the next of kin of the deceased.”
It is time to make a proper arrangement for the treatment of those who have suffered burn injuries. “Adequate arrangements should be made so that accidents do not recur,” the MP said, adding that he will raise the issue in Parliament today.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and Union Minister and Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also expressed their condolences over the untimely death of many people in the fire accident.
