6 killed in house collapse as 6.3 magnitude of earthquake hits Nepal; strong tremors in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: A strong tremors of earthquake were hit Nepal in the wee hours of Wednesday. The tremors were felt in parts of the Delhi-NCR region as well. According to the National Center for Seismology, the depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the ground. The quake hit at around 1.57 am on Wednesday. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 6.3 on the Richter scale.

New Delhi: A strong tremors of earthquake were hit Nepal in the wee hours of Wednesday. The tremors were felt in parts of the Delhi-NCR region as well. According to the National Center for Seismology, the depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the ground. The quake hit at around 1.57 am on Wednesday.

According to the center, the magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 6.3 on the Richter scale. At least Six people were killed after a house collapsed in the Doti district of Nepal after the latest round of earthquakes in the early hours on Wednesday,

This was the third earthquake in Nepal in the last five hours. The first earthquake of magnitude 4.9 hit Nepal at around 8.52 pm on Tuesday, followed by 3.5 magnitude at 9.41 pm. The Third earthquake of 6.3 magnitude struck Nepal at around 1.57 am on Wednesday, the tremors of which were felt strongly in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram and even Lucknow. The epicentre of the third earthquake was 90km east-southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.

Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi tweeted, “Didn’t want to tweet but one can safely say it did feel like an earthquake!” Congress leader Radhika Khera urged people to “stay alert and stay safe”.

Several users in the national capital and surrounding regions took to social media platforms after the tremors were felt for a few seconds.
