Assam Road Accident: A horrific road accident has happened in Jalkubari area of Assam. Seven people have died in this accident. According to the information, all the people who died were students.
Guwahati: In yet another tragic incident, at least seven people died and several others injured in a horrific road accident on Sunday (May 28) night in Jalkubari area of Guwahati. It is being told that many people have also been injured in this road accident, who have been admitted to the nearest hospital. According to the information received initially, ten people were traveling in the Scorpio car at the time of the road accident. Seven of these students died on the spot, while three were taken to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in critical condition. Police had reached there immediately after the incident, but the lives of the students could not be saved.
Cops reached the spot after getting information about the accident and tried to retrieve all the bodies by cutting through the mangled remains of the vehicle.
“A very tragic incident took place near DCP West office, Jalukbari. One speeding Scorpio coming from Azara side crossed over the divider and crashed into a Bolero goods carrier on the opposite lane coming from Guwahati side,” the police said.
They further added that in the accident, 7 students succumbed to injuries on the spot and 3 were brought immediately to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. The three injured persons in the DI vehicle were also brought to GMCH for immediate treatment.
Of the 6 injured, the condition of one was stated to be critical.
The dead students have been identified as Imon Baruah from Dibrugarh, Kaushik Mohan from Sivasagar, Arindam Bhuwal from Guwahati, Niyor Deka from Guwahati, Upangshu Sarma from Nagaon, Rajkiran Bhuyan from Majuli and Kaushik Baruah from Mangaldoi.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed anguish over the deaths. “Extremely anguished by the loss of young and precious lives in the road accident at Jalukbari. My deepest condolences to their parents and families. Have spoken to authorities at GMCH. All possible medical assistance is being provided to those injured,” the Chief Minister tweeted.
