Ramban: In yet another shocking incident, Nine people were trapped, of whom two have been rescued when a part of an under-construction four-lane tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district collapsed on Thursday night. Rescue operation is going on to rescue the remaining seven people.
Officials said that a small portion of the front of the tunnel in Khooni Nallah collapsed during the investigation. He said that the police and the army immediately started the joint rescue operation. Officials said two people have been rescued and seven people are still trapped inside the tunnel.

Several machines and vehicles, including bulldozers and trucks, which were parked on the front side of the tunnel, suffered damage, they said.
Ramban Deputy Commissioner Massaratul Islam and Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma are at the spot, supervising the rescue operation, according to the officials.
Those trapped inside the tunnel belong to the company conducting the work of auditing the tunnel, they said.
Several ambulances were dispatched to the location from Banihal, the officials added.

The incident of tunnel collapse took place at Khooni Nala of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Mekarkot area of Ramban where the tunnel construction work was going on. The Deputy Commissioner of Ramban said on Friday that one person has been rescued. “A part of an under-construction tunnel collapsed in Khooni Nala of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Mekarkot area of Ramban,” the Deputy Commissioner said. Six to seven people are feared trapped, one person has been rescued. The rescue operation is on.
