San Francisco police revealed all of the victims are expected to survive as the shooting was described as a “targeted and isolated” attack.
San Francisco: As many as nine people were shot on Friday when gunfire erupted in San Francisco’s Mission District neighborhood, police said. Cops believe that was a “targeted and isolated incident”.
Gunshot victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital, sources reported.
“We can confirm there are 9 shooting victims — all are expected to survive their injuries,” the San Francisco Police Department said in a tweet.
All victims are expected to survive the shooting, which happened while “some sort of block party” was ongoing, San Francisco Police Department Officer Eve Laokwansathitaya said during a news conference, reported CNN.
At least five of the victims were hospitalized, according to Santiago Lerma, a legislative aide to a San Francisco Board of Supervisors member said. One of the five wounded is undergoing surgery as of Friday night while four people were treated for minor injuries, Lerma told CNN affiliate KPIX.

The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. outside a block party that was hosted by clothing retailer Dying Breed, reported The New York Post, quoting a journalist, Matthew Keys.
The police did not immediately report making any arrests.
“Please avoid the area of 24th/Treat St as we conduct an investigation related to a shooting,” the San Francisco Police said in a statement. “Updates will be released as they become available.”
“When officers arrived on scene they located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” police said in a statement.
“Officers summoned medics to the scene to treat and transport the victims to local area hospitals,” cops said.
The Mission District, better known as The Mission, is a large and diverse neighborhood often known for its historic architecture in the east-central portion of San Francisco.
