According to the information given by the railway officials, the train was going from Lucknow to Rameshwaram, during which the tourist coach of the train caught fire. There is an atmosphere of chaos at Madurai railway station regarding the accident. Other passengers aboard the train are said to be safe.
According to reports, the accident took place around 5.15 am. The train was stopped at Madurai Yard Junction at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, smoke started coming out from the tourist coach of the train. After this, the coach started burning in flames. As it was early morning, most of the passengers were asleep. He woke up from the rising flames of the fire. After this there was a commotion in the compartment. The passengers shouted for help.
As soon as the news of the fire in the train reached the railway officials, there was a stir. In a hurry, the fire brigade team was sent towards the spot. After hours of struggle, the fire in the train was brought under control. Thankfully, the fire did not engulf other coaches of the train. The coach that caught fire has been completely gutted.
The reason of this accident not knowing, at present the railway officials are refraining from talking about it. The people injured in the accident were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital. At the same time, the dead bodies of two people burnt alive in the incident are being identified. His body has been sent to the hospital for postmortem. Confirming the incident, Southern Railway has said to investigate the matter.
