West Bengal: On Saturday, officials said that a major fire broke out in Dum Dum area of Kolkata, gutting several shanties in a slum. After receiving information about this incident local police and fire tenders reached on the spot.
Fearing post-poll violence in the state, the Election Commission of India (EC) has decided to rush 100 additional companies of central paramilitary forces to the state ahead of the seven-phase Lok Sabha election in West Bengal.
