An FIR has been filed against Sumit Aggarwal of Kuchha Malak Road in Jagraon based on the statement of Satvir Singh, the zonal manager of Punjab and Sind Bank.
The Hathur police have registered an FIR against a banker accused of embezzling ₹5.79 lakh.
The FIR was filed based on a statement provided by Satvir Singh, the zonal manager of Punjab and Sind Bank, against Sumit Aggarwal. Aggarwal, who originally hails from West Bengal, works at the same bank and resides on Kuchha Malak Road in Jagraon.
The complaint alleges that on September 12, a discrepancy of ₹5.79 lakh was discovered in the balance of the Chakar village branch. Upon investigation, it was found that while the closing balance should have been ₹7.10 lakh, the branch only had ₹1.31 lakh remaining.
The transaction details for September 12 revealed an opening balance of ₹8.25 lakh. Customers had deposited ₹2.75 lakh, and total withdrawals amounted to ₹3.89 lakh. Aggarwal, responsible for cash handling, could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the difference.
ASI Sulakkhan Singh, in charge of the investigation, stated that a case under Section 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant) of the IPC has been registered against the accused at Hathur Police station. The police are actively searching for his arrest.
