Bhubaneswar: In a noteworthy development for wildlife enthusiasts, an exceptionally rare black leopard has been sighted in the forests of Odisha during the ongoing Tiger Census in the state.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Wildlife, Susanta Nanda, shared this exciting discovery on his X (Twitter) handle, along with two captivating pictures of the spotted leopard in a forest in Central Odisha.

Previously, black tigers or pseudo-melanistic tigers were observed in Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district. Known for their distinctive dark stripe pattern against a light background of white or golden fur, black tigers are rare and, until now, have only been camera-trapped in Similipal.
