A video went viral on social media in which school students from Tamil Nadu are seen beating up two people at a bus stand in Ondipudur, near Coimbatore. DGP Sylendra Babu released a video urging students to not indulge in such unlawful activities.
Fighting incidents among students outside their schools, harassing teachers, and fist fights have increased a lot in recent times in the state. Earlier, school students in Tamil Nadu were known for their discipline and studies. Currently, there is a complaint of students’ involvement in a brawl inside school premises and outside the school campus. The alarming sign is that such incidents are on the rise.
An argument between college students at a bus stand in New Washermenpet, Chennai, turned into a full-blown fist fight on Wednesday. Police reached on the spot where students were caught on camera, many of them rolling on the ground and fighting against each other. The patrolling police party intervened in the matter and ended the brawl by letting them go with a warning not to repeat such unlawful activity again.
As a result, the Director General of Police (DGP), Sailendra Babu, released a video urging the students to not indulge in such activities.
“I too studied in a government school. We studied in government schools because our parents didn’t have much wealth, but our wealth was in our classroom desks and chairs. How can we break that? How can we attempt to attack the teachers who are teaching us about a better world? “asked Sailendra Babu.
He also urged students to concentrate on their education and respect teachers who show them a way to live a better life.
Government authorities need to take action on the increasing fight by the students of Tamil Nadu and take action against the guilty parties.
