The incident took place at Bachhod village in Baghpat district on May 25. The police raided the home of Anuradha because her son eloped with a girl with whom he had a relationship. The police said the woman’s family had filed a complaint, on the basis of which they conducted the raid at the man’s home.

Anuradha and her two daughters, Preeti and Swati, consumed poison to avoid police arrest and jail if the accused is not traced.

The woman and her two daughters were taken to different hospitals, but they succumbed at different times over the next two days.

District Magistrate Raj Kamal said the matter is under investigation. The case has been handed over to the crime branch.
