A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh until November 24 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 4 as part of the money laundering probe into the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is also implicated in the case, has been in jail since February. Both Singh and Sisodia were arrested, first by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and later by the ED.
The ED alleges that Sanjay Singh played a key role in formulating and implementing the now-scrapped policy, which reportedly benefited specific liquor manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. The chargesheet claims that a restaurateur named Dinesh Arora, close to both Singh and Sisodia, played a significant role. Arora, who was arrested by the CBI in July, allegedly arranged funds for the AAP through various restaurant owners.
The ED further contends that Arora received a call from Singh in 2020, seeking funding from restaurateurs for the Delhi assembly elections. Arora reportedly spoke to several restaurant owners and arranged cheques worth ₹82 lakh for the collection of party funds during the elections.
The Delhi government’s excise policy, introduced in 2021, was abruptly scrapped after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena recommended a probe into alleged irregularities. The policy was then replaced by the 2020-21 regime.
