Aamir Khan Files Complaint Against Deepfake ‘Jumla’ Video

Bollywood icon Aamir Khan’s office has taken legal action against a deepfake video falsely depicting him endorsing a political party. Mumbai Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) following the complaint.

In a statement, Aamir Khan’s team emphasized his non-partisan stance throughout his illustrious 35-year career in Bollywood.

The FIR, registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, pertains to impersonation and cheating.

The 27-second manipulated clip features Aamir Khan purportedly discussing the importance of avoiding political rhetoric. The footage appears to be fabricated using advanced artificial intelligence techniques.

The video allegedly originates from an episode of his previous TV show, ‘Satyamev Jayate.’

Aamir Khan’s representatives clarified his history of participation in Election Commission campaigns, underscoring that he has never formally endorsed any political entity.

Expressing concern over the dissemination of false information, Khan’s spokesperson denounced the video as fabricated and baseless.

The actor has escalated the matter to relevant authorities, including lodging a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police.

Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned against the growing threat of deepfake technology, warning of its potential to fuel misinformation and societal unrest.
