New Delhi: On Monday, Former Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia has been sent to judicial custody till March 20 during his appearance in Rouse Avenue court in connection with liquor policy case. He was in CBI custody for about a week after his arrest. CBI counsel said that at this stage we are not seeking extension of remand but may seek it within next 15 days.
Sisodia was arrested by the CBI after 8 hours of interrogation on Sunday 26 February 2023 in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. During Sisodia’s appearance the next day, the Rouse Avenue Court accepted the CBI’s demand and sent him on remand till March 4. On the request of CBI during the hearing on the day the remand ended, the court granted permission to extend the remand for another 2 days. Manish Sisodia, who has been in CBI custody for about seven days, will appear again in Rouse Avenue Court on Monday.
Former Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia has accused the CBI of mental harassment. During his appearance on Saturday, Sisodia had told the court that the probe agency was mentally torturing him by asking “same questions” for several hours every day. During his first appearance in the court after his arrest, Sisodia said that every day from 8 am, the CBI asks him the same question again and again.
He termed this attitude of CBI as mental harassment. They have nothing in the documents. Sisodia also talked about the court’s direction to ensure that he is not subjected to any “third-degree measures” during interrogation. He told the court that last time my lawyer mentioned this word. Sisodia further said that CBI respects him. But sitting for 8 to 10 hours, repeating the same question again and again is like third degree.
