New Delhi: A day after the horrible death of a 23-year-old girl riding a scooter, she was dragged for several kilometres by a car in the capital, which has shaken the people of Delhi. According to the AAP spokesperson, Saurabh Bharadwaj, one of the culprits in the case, Manoj Mittal, is a BJP leader. The AAP MLA further added that the Delhi Police have been trying to save the BJP leader by not taking action speedily in the case.
Bhardwaj claimed the girl was “probably sexually assaulted” or “may have been raped,” and the Delhi Police have been taking the case in an easy way without showing any urgency.
He also slammed Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, saying the L-G was too busy “enjoying a boat ride” to take action against Delhi Police officials. “Had LG been serious, he would have taken action yesterday,” said the AAP leader.
Five people have been arrested in connection with the death of a woman who was dragged by a car for four kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala in Delhi early Sunday morning. The accused were identified as Deepak Khanna (26), Amit Khanna (25), Krishan (27), Mithun (26), and Manoj Mittal (27).
All the accused made it clear during interrogation that they were travelling in the car when their vehicle hit the woman’s scooter in the jurisdiction of Sultanpuri police station.
CCTV footage clearly shows the car took a U-turn in the Kanjhawala area. The body of the woman is visible under the vehicle.
Meanwhile, police have confiscated the car, and samples of the accused have been taken to check whether they were drunk during the period of the accident. Further investigation into the case has been underway.
