Vishwas was arrested by the Punjab Police for allegedly making inflammatory remarks against AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while Bagga was arrested in April in Mohali on suspicion of making inflammatory remarks, inciting enmity, and engaging in criminal intimidation.

In May, Vishwas filed a petition with the Punjab and Haryana High Court requesting the quashing of the FIR because it was illegal, arbitrary, and unfair and was being used as a tool to “wreak revenge through politically motivated criminal investigation using the state machinery.”

Bagga had approached the High Court in April, seeking the dismissal of an FIR filed against him on the complaint of AAP Punjab spokesperson Dr Sunny Singh Ahluwalia. The complaint referred to a statement allegedly made by Bagga and said it constituted incitement to cause violence, use of force, or imminent hurt to Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP members in a pre-designed, well-planned, and orchestrated manner.

Reacting to the order, the BJP’s Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga said in a tweet, “Satyamev Jayate, Big slap on @ArvindKejriwal Face. Punjab High Court Quashed FIR against Me & Me & @DrKumarVishwas.
