The Governor has withdrawn the order to summon a special session of the Punjab assembly on September 22. His decision has triggered a massive point-counterpoint between all the major political parties in the state — AAP, BJP, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

While issuing an order on Wednesday evening, the Governor had said that due to lack of specific rules in the decision to convene the session of the Legislative Assembly with a view to securing only the trust vote, I am withdrawing my order, under which the 16th on September 20 Permission was given to convene the third special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly.

Kejriwal tweeted and wrote, How can the governor refuse the session called by the cabinet? Then democracy is over. Two days ago, the Governor gave permission for the session. When Operation Lotus started failing and the numbers were not complete, a call came from above asking to withdraw the permission, today the country has a constitution on one side and Operation Lotus on the other.

Bhagwant Mann reacted strongly to the withdrawal of the decision of the special session of the Governor. He wrote on Twitter, “Governor not allowing the assembly to run raises big questions on the democracy of the country … Now democracy is elected by crores of people’s representatives. Will run or a person appointed by the central government… On one hand Bhimrao ji’s constitution and on the other hand Operation Lotus… the public is watching.”

Arvind Kejriwal’s government in Delhi also won the trust vote by convening a special session. AAP is accusing BJP of destabilizing its governments and horse-trading of MLAs. After this a special session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly was called. On the lines of the same, Bhagwant Mann Sarkar had also decided to call a special session.
