Dumka: The 19-year-old girl who was set on fire in Dumka, Jharkhand, after declining a proposal died on Sunday. A video showing the accused smiling in police custody has appeared online.
The culprit, Abhishek, could be seen smiling and showing his teeth sarcastically as he was handcuffed and was being taken to a police vehicle.
His “shameless smile” was criticised by users on social media after the video was widely circulated.

The incident occurred in Jharkhand’s Dumka town on Tuesday when the guilty party poured petrol on the girl from outside the window of her room. At that time, she was sleeping when the culprit set her on fire.
The victim, who was a Class 12 student, had been first taken to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka in a critical condition with 90 per cent burns. After that, she was referred to Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) for better treatment. But she could not survive.
