Action is being taken against three BJP MLAs in response to comments made about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
After the suspension of five BJP MLAs in West Bengal by the speaker, the same case is being repeated in the Delhi assembly. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Monday suspended three BJP MLAs for the day after a protest by AAP members over “insulting” remarks made by the BJP MLAs.
House adjourns for 15 minutes
In the action-packed Delhi assembly, the proceedings of the house were adjourned for 15 minutes today. This happened when the MLAs entered the well of the House and raised their voices over derogatory remarks made by Delhi BJP president Adesh Kumar Gupta against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Three MLAs asked to leave house
Three MLAs of the saffron party, Anil Bajpai, Jitender Mahajan, and Ajay Mahawar, were asked to leave the house when they stood on the benches despite the Speaker’s incessant requests for them to sit down.
An AAP MLA demands an apology
On Monday morning, AAP MLA Mohinder Goel sought an apology from Gupta and demanded that a censure motion be passed against him. Party MLAs then entered the well of the House, raising slogans against the BJP. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel asked Mohinder to give his submission in writing and adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
The war of words inside the assembly irked the house proceedings. Derogatory language should not be used. House proceedings must focus on important issues rather than a squabble between the ruling and opposition parties. It is a waste of time and money. Legislators need to concentrate on their duties.
