Actor Aditya Pancholi requests Bombay HC to quash an FIR filed against him in a rape case alleged by a noted Bollywood actress.
Mumbai: Actor Aditya Pancholi has knocked on the door of the Bombay High Court for the ending of an FIR filed against him in a rape case by a noted Bollywood actress.
In his defence, Pancholi argued that although an FIR against him was filed in 2019, during the last three years, neither a chargesheet nor a motion to close the case had been made by the Versova police station of the Mumbai police. The Mumbai Police arrested Aditya Pancholi for rape in 2019.
Abhinav Chandrachud appeared for Pancholi, and he made the argument that no charges were submitted, which indicates that there has been no progress in the investigation.
Chandrechud stated that there hasn’t been any advancement in the inquiry. He argued that filing a B-Summary report would be the best course of action for the prosecution if there was no evidence in the case. Since 2019, the case has been pending.
The bench has urged the police station to tell the court about the stage of investigation which was initiated in 2019.
The leading actress made an allegation that she had been drugged and raped by Pancholi. Her sister also faced the backlash of Pancholi. He assaulted her sister as well.
The actress claimed that as her name and fame grew, he began demanding money. In her complaint, the actress revealed that she was raped on several occasions by Pancholi. Besides this, he harassed her sexually as well as mentally.
