Actor and influencer Sahil Khan arrested in Mahadev Betting app case after hours long operation

Mumbai: SIT of Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested actor and influencer Sahil Khan for his alleged involvement in the Mahadev betting app case. He has been arrested from Janglepur in Chhattisgarh. Mr Khan, sources say, had fled Mumbai and was on the run after his plea was rejected by the high court.

Police caught Sahil after chasing him for about 40 hours. Sahil Khan kept changing his location repeatedly. Sahil Khan was arrested in Chhattisgarh by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of Mumbai Police Cyber Cell after the Bombay High Court rejected his petition for interim bail.

Sahil Khan’s name came up in the investigation of Mumbai’s Matunga Police Mahadev Betting App case. Sahil Khan, who has worked in films like ‘Style’ and ‘Excuse Me’, is also popular as an influencer on social media.

Earlier on Thursday, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police to investigate the Mahadev betting app case questioned actor Sahil Khan for more than four hours. The official had said that Khan appeared before the SIT at around 1 pm as per the court order and went back at 5.30 pm after recording his statement.

The SIT has been conducting a probe into the alleged illegal transactions between certain financial and real estate firms in Chhattisgarh and the promoters of the controversial Mahadev betting app. According to the official, Khan had claimed that he had no role in the case. While the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the Mahadev betting app case, the Mumbai Police has registered a separate case against 32 people.
