Actor Bikramjeet Kanwarpal, 52, dies of COVID-19 complications

Mumbai: Retired army officer and popular Indian film and TV personality, Bikramjeet Kanwarpal reportedly lost his battle against Covid-19 on May 1. The 52-year-old actor was well known for his supporting roles in television shows and Bollywood movies.

Dropping the news of his demise on social media, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit took to his twitter account and wrote, “Sad to hear about the demise of actor Major Bikramjeet Kanwarpal this morning due to #Covid. A retired army officer, Kanwarpal had played supporting roles in many films and television serials. Heartfelt condolences to his family & near ones. ॐ शान्ति !” he wrote.

Bikramjeet made his acting debut in 2003 with the blockbuster hit ‘Page 3′. Later, he played prominent roles in various films. He has been a huge part of the India TV industry and has featured in shows like ’24’ alongside Anil Kapoor, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, ‘Yeh Hai Chahtein’, ‘Dil Hi Toh Hai’, and many others. He had last worked in ‘Tenali Rama’ as King Dhananjay Mudriya.

Mourning the loss, actor Rohit Bose Roy also took to his Twitter handle to express his grief and shared one of his pictures and wrote, “And we lose another one… The happiest, most gentlemanly, always positive and smiling Major Bikramjeet… RIP.”

Expressing his grief, filmmaker, Vikram Bhatt also mourned the loss and wrote on his Instagram handle, “Major Bikramjeet Kanwarpal passes away. Taken from us by the cruel pandemic. I have done a lot of films with him and this doesn’t get closer home.

The days are turning into one long obituary and yet each life that we lose cannot be just a number. We cannot allow it to become a number. Each a special friend. May his soul rest in peace. #covid #covid19 #covidindia”
