Chennai: The veteran actor Kamal Haasan was discharged from the hospital on Friday after a successful ankle surgery. The 66-year-old star was admitted to Chennai’s Sri Ramachandra hospital due to an infection in his right leg, where he underwent a surgery on January 19.
According to the doctors and his daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan, even though the surgery was successful, Kamal Haasan has been advised to take rest for at least a week.
After the discharge, the actor headed to his home in the East Coast Road (ECR), where he will recuperate and will soon get back to work in films and politics.
The surgery had to be carried out due to his fatal fall that he took in 2016. It was his follow-up surgery. As per reports, the ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ star has had several surgeries in the past and has about 16 fractures in his body.
The press statement from the hospital read, “Sri Kamal Haasan was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre for a follow-up surgery in view of a mild infection of his right leg bone. He underwent surgery for the removal of the infective focus in the Tibial bone. He is stable and recovering well.”
On January 19, both his daughters had released a joint statement stating that the surgery was successful. They also thanked everyone who prayed for their father’s speedy recovery.
Same night, Kamal Haasan too took to Twitter account to share his first post on the micro-blogging site after his surgery. He thanked the doctors at Sri Ramachandra hospital who treated him. He also added that people’s love is his medicine.
His post read, “The surgery was successful. Big thanks to the doctors’ team at Sri Ramchandra Hospital. Till I recover, I wish to interact here and in the hearts of the people. People’s love is my medicine. I wish to see them soon (sic).”
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is likely to resume campaigning for his party Makkal Needhi Maiam once he recuperates from the surgery.
