Jammu: Actor Urmila Matondkar, who is now an active politician, took part in the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra led by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir.
The foot march of the grand old party has reached its final phase. The journey turns brighter whenever a personality of the film industry joins the yatra.
The Congress party tweeted in Hindi. Ever since the party’s march started in September, several noted personalities outside of the Congress have joined in the grand old party’s foot march. Actors, including Pooja Bhatt and former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, as well as veteran army officers, have walked alongside Rahul Gandhi. Last month, in the Delhi leg, Kamal Haasan too joined the foot march.
Urmila Matondar shared a video of herself walking alongside Gandhi on social media. She tweeted, “Walk for Unity, Affinity, Equality, and Fraternity (sic).” She sent a video message before the march, in which she can be heard saying, “In this chilly winter, I am addressing you from Jammu.” I’ll be joining the yatra in a short while. The spirit of Indian unification has been present throughout this yatra.
Throughout the Kanyakumari to Kashmir Yatra, Rahul Gandhi has been saying that his party seeks to counter the hatred spread by the ruling party, the BJP, and the RSS. However, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Sunday that “India is not shattered and that it requires Congress to unite it.”
Rahul Gandhi went on to meet the Kashmiri Pandits on Monday, and in one of his addresses, he raised the issue of statehood as well.
