In a significant milestone, Adani Green Energy Limited has secured the position of the world’s second-largest global solar photovoltaic (PV) developer, according to the latest annual global report by Mercom Capital Group. The Adani Group’s renewable energy arm’s exceptional performance and substantial contributions to the renewable energy sector have propelled it to the forefront of global solar PV developers.

The report highlights Adani Green Energy’s total solar capacity of 18.1 GW, including operational, under-construction, and awarded projects through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). This impressive achievement solidifies Adani Green Energy’s standing as a major player in the global solar energy landscape.

TotalEnergies, based in France, claimed the top spot with a total capacity of 41.3 GW, making Adani Green Energy the second-largest solar PV developer globally.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed commitment to large-scale renewables, the development of an integrated manufacturing ecosystem, and green hydrogen solutions. He stated, “A total investment of USD 75 billion (by 2030) on our energy transition initiatives will further our vision to have 45 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030 and strengthen the pivotal role played by AGEL in India’s glide path to decarbonization.”

Mercom Capital Group, a renowned clean energy communications and research firm, compiled the report based on data from July 2022 to June 2023. The top ten global large-scale solar PV developers collectively accounted for 145 GW of operational, under-construction, and awarded solar projects during the reporting period, emphasizing the industry’s significant progress and growth.
