Afghanistan floods: Thousands of children affected by floods in Afghanistan, UNICEF informs

Afghanistan floods: The floods in Afghanistan have caused devastation. Life has become disrupted. Unusually heavy seasonal rains have wreaked havoc in many parts of the country, killing hundreds of people and destroying property and crops. The UN food agency has warned that many survivors are unable to make a living.

Thousands of children have been affected by the sudden floods in the northern and western regions of the country. The United Nations Children’s Agency gave this information on Monday. Unusually heavy seasonal rains have wreaked havoc in many parts of the country, killing hundreds of people and destroying property and crops. The United Nations Food Agency has said that many people have been killed and many people have been made homeless.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said this extreme season has all the hallmarks of an escalating climate crisis, and that last year there was even drought in some affected areas.

The World Food Program said exceptionally heavy rains in Afghanistan in May killed more than 300 people and destroyed thousands of homes, most of them in the northern province of Baghlan. WFP said the survivors were left with no homes, no land, and no source of livelihood. UNICEF said in a statement on Monday that thousands of children were still affected by the ongoing floods.
