Afghanistan: In yet another disaster incident in Nuristan province of Afghanistan was hit by a catastrophic landslide on Sunday. A landslide caused by heavy snowfall has killed 25 people and injured eight others in the eastern Afghan province of Nuristan, a disaster management ministry spokesman said on Monday.
Confirming the number of fatalities, Disaster Management Ministry spokesman Janan Sayeq said several people are feared trapped under the rubble of a snow in Nakre village in Nuristan. Faced with this disaster, the local community and emergency services launched an immediate response. With fears of the death toll rising, efforts were made to locate survivors and recover bodies.
The injured were immediately rushed to local hospitals and received medical attention for injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening. The solidarity and resilience of the villagers was evident as they worked together hand in hand to cope with the consequences of the landslide.
