The court has convicted two accused in the Latvian tourist murder case. The woman along with her sister had reached Kerala for Ayurveda treatment. She had gone missing on March 14, 2018, near Kovalam beach.
Thiruvananthapuram: After four years, the court has finally convicted the two accused of raping and murdering a female tourist from Latvia who had come to India in Kerala. The Kerala court, while hearing the matter on Friday, convicted both the accused. In fact, the 33-year-old tourist woman went missing in March 2018, whose body was recovered a month later. In this case, both the accused have been convicted by the court on all the charges. This incident shook the whole of Kerala, this incident took place in Kovalam, Kerala.
Last year, the woman’s sister appealed to the High Court, demanding that the trial of the case be expedited. The woman’s sister had said that I want justice for my sister, but things are moving at a very slow pace. I was given many assurances, but all the assurances turned out to be hollow. Please inform that in 2018 two sisters had come to visit Kerala. The woman went missing in the month of March, but on April 21, the body of the woman was recovered from the Kovalam beach.
In May 2018, two youths identified, one working as an illegal guide while the other was a drug peddler, were arrested by the police. Since then, the hearing of this case was going on. According to reports, the woman had come to Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment. But since the murder of the woman, her family was pleading with the court for justice. According to reports, the woman, a resident of Latvia, had reached Thiruvananthapuram in February 2018, following which a missing complaint was lodged on March 14.
A lookout notice was issued after the woman went missing. After which, in April 2018, the decomposed body of the woman was recovered from the forest located in Tiruvallam, Kovalam. Within a month of this case, the police had arrested two people. But later both the accused Udayan, Umesh were acquitted. The woman’s boyfriend denied reports that his girlfriend was drugged.
