New Delhi, India: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Union Council of Ministers took the oath of office, Indian market indices resumed their upward trend from the previous week and opened at new all-time highs at the opening bell on Monday. It appeared that market confidence had improved due to a smooth transition in the government formation process.

Shortly after the markets started on June 10, advances in Reliance Industries Ltd. and Axis Bank Ltd. propelled India’s main indices to all-time highs. This increase came after Sunday’s swearing-in of Narendra Modi as the country’s prime minister for a third term. The NSE Nifty 50 gained 91.90 points (0.39%) to 23,382.05, while the BSE Sensex gained 233.11 points (0.30%) to 76,926.47 as of 09:21 a.m. The NSE Nifty 50 reached 23,411.90, and the Sensex reached 77,079.04, both indexes setting new highs.
