New Delhi: The Delhi High Court refused to stay the Agneepath scheme. The court has dismissed all 23 petitions filed against the Centre’s Agneepath scheme. The court said that there is no reason to interfere with the scheme.

A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramaniam Prasad in the Delhi High Court dismissed all the petitions challenging the Centre’s Agneepath scheme.

The central government had launched Agneepath Yojana on June 14 last year to recruit youth in the armed forces. As per the rules of the scheme, people in the age group of 17 and half to 21 years are eligible to apply for country sentinel under this scheme. He will be inducted into the army for a tenure of four years. However, after the introduction of the Agneepath scheme, there was tremendous opposition in many states against the scheme. Several petitions were filed against it.

Under the scheme, the service of 25 percent of the total fire fighters will be regularized. The rest will be given professional training for the future. They will also get a lump sum amount. Many of them will get some exemptions ie concession and preference under recruitment process in central forces, police force and other departments. However, after the introduction of the Agneepath scheme, there was tremendous opposition in many states against the scheme. Later the government increased the upper age limit for recruitment to 23 years in 2022.

Let us know that the government has recently made a major change in the recruitment rules under Agneepath Yojana. Under this, ITI-Polytechnic pass out will be able to apply. Army has increased the eligibility criteria to participate in the Agneepath recruitment process. Pre-skilled youth will also be able to participate in Agneepath recruitment. ITI-Polytechnic pass out will be able to apply in technical branch. This will give special encouragement to the pre-skilled youth. Not only this, it will also reduce the training time. After this major change, now more young candidates will get a chance to join the scheme.
