AIM Urges District Magistrates Presence at Udyog Bandhu Meets for Swift Industrial Issue Resolution

The Association of India Manufacturers (AIM) is advocating for district magistrates to preside over Udyog Bandhu meetings in all Uttar Pradesh districts, emphasizing the need for rapid resolution of industrialists’ challenges. The AIM, representing the MSME sector, discussed various issues at its inaugural meeting, addressing concerns such as cumbersome tender processes, power supply disruptions, and stamp duty provisions for land transfer.

Manmohan Agarwal, AIM’s national president, stressed the importance of district magistrates’ direct involvement in Udyog Bandhu meetings for effective problem resolution. He noted that the absence of district magistrates often leads to the participation of junior officials from other departments, hindering the purpose of these crucial sessions.

AIM’s vice president, Kulmani Gupta, urged the state government to revise tender process conditions, specifically advocating for the removal of minimum turnover and past performance clauses, thereby facilitating MSME entrepreneurs’ participation.

The association also highlighted the persistent issue of frequent power supply tripping in industrial areas across the state. Umesh Batra, AIM’s general secretary, called upon the government to address and rectify this concern promptly.

Furthermore, AIM called for an extension of the provision fixing a nominal ₹5000 stamp duty for land transfer within blood relations. While currently applicable to residential and agricultural land, AIM proposes its extension to include industrial land transactions.

In a notable instance, AIM’s national president, Manmohan Agarwal, faced challenges in establishing an industrial unit in Kakori, Lucknow. Despite official clearance for the project site, local authorities, particularly the police, are reportedly hindering the commencement of the project. AIM emphasizes the need for a swift resolution to ensure the smooth establishment of industrial units in the region.
