New Delhi: A total emergency was declared at the Kochi airport on Friday after an Air Arabia plane coming from Sharjah failed hydraulic system. Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) gave this information. However, the plane made a safe landing and all the passengers and crew members are safe.
According to the information given to the media by CIAL, Air Arabia flight G9-426 was to land at the airport at 7.13 pm. A total emergency was declared at the airport after the aircraft’s hydraulic system completely failed.
CIAL said, ‘The aircraft landed safely on runway number-09 at 7.29 pm. Only the plane needed to be towed. After this the emergency was lifted from the airport at 8.22 pm. Two flights Go Air (G 8336) and Air Arabia (3L125), which were scheduled to land at that time, were diverted to Kannur and Coimbatore airport respectively.
According to CIAL, all 222 passengers and seven crew members on board the aircraft are safe. There has been no comment from Air Arabia regarding this incident so far. “A concerted effort and timely coordination have helped CIAL to see through the airport emergency situation. Though such a situation occurred after a long period, it was proved that the safety systems worked effectively. We could resume the operations in 45 minutes,” said CIAL managing director S Suhas.
