Air India cancels another flight from San Francisco to Mumbai due to technical snag

New Delhi: An Air India flight (number AI 180) from San Francisco to Mumbai was canceled due to a technical problem. An Air India spokesperson said that the affected passengers have been given the option of alternate flights or full refund for the canceled flight. “We will also reimburse all the expenses that our guests (passengers) have to bear for hotel, accommodation and transportation till the flight,” he added.

The flight was initially delayed by a few hours due to some tire problem of the aircraft, and was later cancelled, sources said. Detailed information about the number of passengers booked for the flight was not immediately available.

On June 6, an Air India flight from Delhi to San Francisco was diverted to the remote port city of Magadan in eastern Russia after engine trouble. There were 216 passengers and 16 crew members in this aircraft. All were trapped in the city of Magadan for two days. Later, another aircraft of Air India’s fleet was sent, which brought them to San Francisco on 8 June.
