New Delhi: Air India has made a big announcement for its employees. They have been given the option of VRS i.e. Voluntary Retirement Scheme. If the age of the employee is more than 55 years or he has worked with the company for 20 consecutive years, then he will be able to choose this option now.
Ever since the command of Air India came to the Tata Group, many major changes have been made in the company. First the top management was changed, then some other officers were changed and now they are being encouraged to retire voluntarily. Apart from this, the company has announced that the employees who apply for VRS within the stipulated time will be given a lump sum amount.
The company has also informed that the age eligibility for carrier cabin crew members has been reduced from 55 years to 40. This is going to be applicable to those who fall under S-3, S-5, S-7, E-0, E-1, E-2 grades. This scheme is also going to be applicable for unskilled employees working in the company. It has also been made clear in the announcement that if an employee applies for voluntary retirement from June 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022, he will be issued a lump sum amount as well as ex-gratia.
At the same time, the employee who will apply for voluntary retirement between June 1 and June 30, will be given additional incentive besides ex-gratia. For information, let us tell you that the Tata group took over Air India on January 27 and the post of chairman was given to N Chandrasekaran. They are constantly pushing for major changes to rebuild the company.
