Air India Pee Gate Case : No relief to pilot, DGCA refuses to revoke suspension

Air India Pee Gate Case: On November 26 last year, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation rejected the petition to withdraw the suspension of the pilot in the case of urination in Air India flight coming from New York to Delhi.

The DGCA has suspended the pilot of the New York-Delhi flight on November 26 in which a passenger urinated on a woman. This pilot has been suspended for 3 months. The DGCA has rejected an appeal to set aside the suspension of an Air India pilot for failing to perform his duties, as per rules.

Last year on November 26, Air India flight was coming from New York to Delhi. Shankar Mishra was accused of urinating on a female passenger. After this, the DGCA alleged that the pilot did not follow the rules, due to which we are suspending him for three months. This decision was challenged by the pilots and the unions.

Taking a tough decision, the DGCA had suspended the license of the chief pilot (Pilot in Command) of the aircraft for three months, as well as imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on the airline company.

What is the matter?

It is alleged that Mishra allegedly urinated on a 70-year-old woman in the business class of an Air India flight from New York to Delhi on November 26 last year. After this, the woman passenger complained about the whole matter to the Delhi Police on January 4. Accused Mishra was arrested on January 7, but he got bail on January 31.
