New Delhi: There is good news for the passengers who were affected by the diversion due to glitch in Delhi-San Francisco flight on 6th June. Air India will refund the full amount to all passengers. This information has been given by Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience and Ground Handling Officer of Air India.

The airline has reported that the passengers have reached their destination approximately 56 hours after departure from Delhi. The airline will fully refund the fare of the passengers. Along with this, the airline will also issue a voucher to the passengers.

Air India flight AI 173 was going from Delhi to San Francisco on June 6. There were 216 passengers and 16 drivers in it. The plane was diverted to the port city of Magadan in eastern Russia after an in-air disturbance. There was a disturbance in the engine of the Boeing 777-200LR of the aircraft.

On Wednesday, the airline sent a ferry flight. The stranded passengers and crew were taken to San Francisco by this ferry flight. The replacement aircraft had landed in Magadan at 06.14 am (local time). Flew to San Francisco on 8th June and reached at 12.07 hrs on 8th June.

Apart from expressing regret to the passengers, the airline has also apologized. The airline said that there was a problem with the plane’s engine. The pilots of the aircraft had received an indication of low oil pressure in one of the engines. Because of this, the pilot of the aircraft decided to land the aircraft at a nearby airport for the safety of the passengers.

Magadan is a small city in Russia. Passengers did not get full facilities in this city, passengers have not complained about this. The airline thanked the passengers for their understanding and patience. The airline had arranged for the passenger and crew to stay in a local hotel.
