Airport Customs seizes foreign currency worth Rs 4.1 crore at Mumbai, 3 arrested

Customs officials at Mumbai airport arrested three members of the same family and sent them to judicial custody. 497000 US dollars have been recovered from them. Whose value in Indian currency is about 4.1 crores.

Mumbai: Customs officials at the Mumbai airport have seized USD 4,97,000, which is worth around Rs 4.1 crore in Indian currency. According to the information received, they have been stopped for interrogating three Indian members of the same family going to Dubai from Fly Dubai flight FZ 446 in this connection. These include two family elders and another male passenger.

In fact, at the time the baggage was being checked, US$ 4,97,000 was recovered from their bags. They have been arrested and sent to judicial custody at present.

The three apprehended passengers have been arrested and sent for Judicial Custody.

Earlier last month, Customs officials of Mumbai airport arrested seven people in four cases on October 11 and 12 by seizing 15 kg of gold and foreign currency worth Rs 7.87 crore and foreign currency worth Rs 22 lakh.

Talking about the incident, Customs officials said that the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) officials, acting on intelligence inputs, paid Rs 5.20 crore to an Indian national who arrived on Emirates flight EK 500 from Dubai. Caught with 9.895 kg of gold worth Rs.
